Our theatre was born from The Ruskin School of Acting.
The Ruskin School of Acting was founded in 1986 by John Ruskin, who was Sanford Meisner's apprentice and taught with him at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. The school teaches the Meisner Technique as well as a variety of other classes. The teachers at the Ruskin School are dedicated to guiding students in building and sustaining careers in film, television, and theatre, as well as to connecting them with the deepest parts of themselves and their talents. Many of the students go on to act, write, and direct works at our theatre. Our Young Actors Classes train kids and teenagers in the Meisner Technique to support them as they begin their careers and build greater self-confidence.
